Class supply list

Please see the word .doc below for the general 6th grade which includes Mrs. Horling's Science and Ms. Kaprowski's Social Studies lists; you will receive a list from your LA and Math teachers in the fall, but most items will be covered by the general list.

While LA is assigned and Math is leveled using rubric scores, here is the list for Social Studies and Science Teachers:

6th Grade General Supplies

These are the general supplies required by all the 6th grade homeroom teachers for the 2019-2020 school year.  In September, your child will receive notice of the supplies required by each his/her subject area teachers.

  • 5 Sturdy Folders-plastic would be best OR a multi-pocketed folder with a minimum of 5 pockets. 
  • 3 highlighters preferable 3 different colors
  • 1 Package of colored pencils   
  • 1 package or 8 to 12 #2 Pencils-Mechanical pencils would be best
  • 1 package or 8 to 12 Ballpoint pens (blue or black ink only)  
  • 1 package or 8 to 12 Red pens  
  • 2 Large pencil pouches - NO PENCIL BOXES
  • 5 Packs of 3 x 5 small index cards (These will need to be replenished as the year goes on)
  • 1 Eraser
  • 1 LARGE Book Sock to cover your Science text book
  • 5 Pads of 3x3 Post it sticky notes (These will need to be replenished as the year goes on)
  • 3   1-gallon sized, Ziploc freezer bags. 
  • 1 Backpack (rolling backpacks will not fit in your locker)
  • 4 packages of wide ruled loose leaf paper
  • 2 dry erase markers & a clean sock/eraser
  • 1 Novel of your choice for silent reading time
  • 1 Flash Drive
  • 1 set of headphones or ear buds
  • 2 small or 1 large glue stick
  • 1 pair of scissors
  • 3 refill rolls of tape that will be used in the tape dispensers provided by the teacher

GENERAL 6TH GRADE SUPPLY LIST

These supplies will be used throughout the year and can be stored in the student’s locker and possibly the homeroom teacher’s classroom.
Please be sure to check your subject teachers’ websites for their individual lists, but immediately below is the general list that covers all of the teachers.

  • 6 different colored folders each with 3 holes – Please do not get paper folders as they will rip.  One folder will be used for each subject (Math, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies), along with a Homework/Notices folder, and Spanish folder.
  • 2 yellow highlighters
  • 1 package of colored pencils (A pack of 10-12 is fine.)   
  • 1 package or 8 to 12 #2 pencils (Mechanical pencils are best if possible.) - Additional pencils might be needed throughout the year.
  • 1 package or 8 to 12 ballpoint pens (blue or black ink only) – Additional pens might be needed throughout the year.  
  • 1 package or 8 to 12 red pens  
  • 2 large pencil pouches - NO PENCIL BOXES
  • 5 packs of 3 x 5 small index cards (These will need to be replenished as to year goes on.)
  • 1-2 extra erasers   
  • 3 LARGE book socks to cover your text books (Math, LA, and Science)
  • 5 pads of 3x3 sticky notes (These will need to be replenished as to year goes on.)
  • 2   1-gallon size Ziploc freezer bags
  • 1 back pack (It is preferred to NOT get a rolling backpack as they won’t easily fit into the lockers, but it is up to you.)
  • 1 novel of your choice for silent reading time (A new book will be needed once this one is finished, but the students can always borrow one from the library in school.)
  • 1 small pair of scissors
  • 1 small hand pencil sharpener
  • 2 dry erase markers and a clean sock or eraser
  • 1 tape roll with dispenser
  • 2 small or 1 large glue stick
  • 1 small or pocket hand sanitizer bottle (to be kept in the student’s pencil pouch or backpack)
  • 3 packages of wide ruled 3 holed loose leaf paper (These will need to be replenished as to year goes on.)
  • 1 combination lock with numbers for the student’s locker (Locks with keys will not be permitted.)

***Please label all of your supplies with the student’s name and homeroom***

MRS. HORLING'S HOMEROOM
If possible, please send in a box of tissues and a roll of paper towels.  Tissues will be asked for again halfway through the year.

MRS. HORLING’S MATH SUPPLIES

  • 1   3-ring binder (1.5 inches) - 2 sections will be needed, so it can also be used for another course if there is room and if it is permitted by the other teacher
  • 2 section dividers
  • 1 pack of 3-holed loose leaf paper
  • 1 pencil with an eraser for every day (from the general supplies is fine, but one is needed every day all year)
  • 1 red pen (from the general supplies is fine, but one is needed every day all year)

MRS. HORLING’S LANGUAGE ARTS SUPPLIES

  • 1   3-ring binder (1.5 inches) -  3 sections will be needed, but it is preferred that it is not used with another course
  • 1 inexpensive flash drive labeled with your name and LA teacher
  • 1 pair of working earbuds or headphones in a case or bag with student’s first and last names and LA teacher
  • 1 pack of 3-holed loose leaf paper
  • 1 small pocket dictionary
  • 1 black or blue pen (from the general supplies is fine, but one is needed every day all year)
  • 1 red pen (from the general supplies is fine, but one is needed every day all year)
  • 1 pencil with an eraser when writing rough drafts (from the general supplies is fine, but one is needed every day all year)

MRS. HORLING’S SOCIAL STUDIES SUPPLIES
Students will have me for Social Studies if they have Mrs. Luerssen for homeroom.

  • 1 section of a 3-ring binder, so the binder can be shared with another course if there is room and if permitted by the other teacher (many students last year shared Social Studies and Science).
  • 1 pack of 3-holed loose leaf paper
  • 2-3 packs of 3x5 index cards (from the general supplies is fine, but they will need to be replenished during the year)
  • a pencil with an eraser or black or blue pen for every day (from the general supplies is fine, but one is needed every day all year)
  • a red pen (from the general supplies is fine, but one is needed every day all year)
  • sandwich bags or rubber bands will be needed throughout the year to contain and organize flashcards

MRS. HORLING’S SCIENCE SUPPLIES
Students will have me for Science if they have me for homeroom.

  • 1 section of a 3-ring binder, so the binder can be shared with another course if there is room and if permitted by the other teacher.
  • 1 pack of 3-holed loose leaf paper
  • 2-3 packs of 3x5 index cards (from the general supplies is fine, but they will need to be replenished during the year)
  • a pencil with an eraser or black or blue pen for every day (from the general supplies is fine, but one is needed every day all year)
  • a red pen (from the general supplies is fine, but one is needed every day all year)
  • sandwich bags or rubber bands will be needed throughout the year to contain and organize flashcards
